Class FAQs

Who should take the course?

This is a great course for anyone who is interested in learning how to design websites using WordPress.org.
A few scenarios:
– Small business owners who need a company website
– Graphic designers wanting to add/improve website design skills
– Digital marketing professionals
– Employees who are tasked with creating and maintaining company websites

Do I need to know how to code?

The great thing about WordPress is that you do not need to know how to code in order to customize a theme. Having basic HTML and CSS knowledge will be helpful as we’ll be teaching you a few customization tricks, but not necessary. If you consider yourself a tech-savvy person, you’ll do great. If you’re concerned about the course tech requirements, contact us and we’d be happy to discuss!

What technical requirements do I need for the course?

A reliable computer, camera, microphone, and internet connection are required for this course. Classes will be taught via Zoom, so make sure to have the latest Zoom app installed before class starts.

*Note: this is a hands-on course and we will be working in WordPress during class. You will need to join Zoom from a desktop computer, not a cell phone.

Do you have a VA program?

We honor the women and men who have served our country, and are offering a limited number of free spots in our course to Vets. Contact us for more information.

How often do you offer courses?

We are currently offering courses on a quarterly basis. We will potentially add more courses based on demand. If you would like to know the availability and dates of future courses not yet posted to our website, contact us.

What makes your course different than other WordPress courses?

Unlike many other courses that only teach you the basics of WordPress theme customization, we take a deeper dive into theme customization, plugins, and CSS styling so that you can design a unique website that does not look like a template! We will be learning about UX/UI design and working with a Figma prototype, and we will teach you how to optimize your website for performance and SEO.

By the end of our course, you will have designed a full website. You will have gained the knowledge you need to customize and maintain it, and the skills to design more websites if you choose!

What is the cost of the course?

View the Courses page for current tuition rates.

What forms of payment do you take?

We take all major credit cards.

Do you offer payment plans?

We do offer payment plans on an individual basis depending on your circumstances. Please contact us to discuss setting up a payment plan for an upcoming class.

Will I need to purchase any course materials?

All course materials, including the licensed themes, are included in the tuition costs. You will need a reliable desktop computer, video camera, microhone, and internet connection in order to take the course.

What is your cancellation policy?

Attendees may cancel any course 3 to 10 days prior to that course being scheduled, and the attendee will receive a 50% refund of that course.

Attendees canceling any course less than 3 days prior to that course being offered will be required to pay for the entire course tuition.

What is the class format, and what programs and apps will we be using?

This is an online course via Zoom. We will also be chatting with students via our messaging app. You will be building your class website in the Chrome browser in WordPress.org using the Generate Press theme.

We will provide graphics and photographs for you to use—however, if you would like to create your own graphics, you may want to have memberships to Canva and/or Photoshop.

Do I need website hosting?

We will initially host your class website for up to three months. After this time period, you can transfer your website to your own hosting provider should you choose to keep it.

Can I add this course experience to my resume?

We are experienced digital marketing professionals and teachers (read more about us here), and when you take and complete our course, we will provide a certificate of completion that also serves as a recommendation.

I’ve registered for an upcoming course. What should I do next to prepare for class?

Once your registration has been accepted and you have paid in full, you will be granted access to our student portal where you can see upcoming class dates and times, course materials, and information about joining our messaging app.

Can I use the website I build in class for my own business/personal use?

You will have built a full website by the end of the course, and if you would like to keep it, you can transfer it to your preferred hosting provider (or we can help you set up hosting!)

We will provide graphics and photographs for your class website design—however, you are welcome to customize your website with your own logo, graphics, photographs, and colors either during or after the course.
